Είναι ο μεγαλύτερος σκαλιστός Βούδας στον κόσμο, με 71 μέτρα ύψος, το κεφάλι είναι 14,7 μέτρα ύψος και οι ώμοι του φθάνουν τα 28 μέτρα πλάτος.

The imposing Potala Palace is the centerpiece of Tibet’s capital city, Lhasa. At 12,000 feet above sea level, it’s the highest palace in the world. And it’s also a major center for Buddhist spirituality.
Potala refers to a mountain in India sacred to the religion, and for centuries its namesake palace has been at the core of Tibet’s monastic community.
Much of the current palace complex dates to the seventeenth century. But the earliest construction began a thousand years earlier, on the commission of a Tibetan king, in honor of his marriage to a princess of China. The growing fortress became the winter home for the Dalai Lamas, monastic leaders of Tibetan Buddhism.

The Mogao caves (Xinjiang – China)
The Mogao Caves or Mogao Grottoes also known as the Caves of the Thousand Buddhas form a system of 492 temples 25 km southeast of the center of Dunhuang.
Hanging Monastery
China’s Hanging Temple, located near Datong, sits 246 feet above the ground. It’s supported by poles that have been drilled into the side of Hengshan Mountain. Inside the temple is a series of rooms, winding passages, and breath-taking views.

Tucked in the rolling subtropical mountains of the southeast Chinese province of Fujian are a series of giant multistoried homes built with wood and fortified with mud walls.
Constructed between the 15th and 20th centuries, these massive communal homes were sited with feng shui principles and are purposefully nestled amidst tea, tobacco, and rice fields and bountiful forests of pine and bamboo.

The Shilin Karst component is in Yunnan province and contains stone forests with sculpted pinnacle columns and is considered the world reference site for pinnacle karst.”

Xiangxi Phoenix Ancient City Scenic Area
Ancient Fenghuang, a village in central China, used to be a frontier town, separating the Han civilization from the Miao and Dong minorities. It was an important regional center for trade and cultural exchange. The riverside setting of the village, with its wooden stilt houses and narrow mysterious back alleys, makes it one of the most attractive places in the region.
These days, it has become a major tourist destination. While some traditions remain, much of the town has been set up to cater for the influx of new visitors, in some ways changing the face of the village beyond recognition. Either way, Fenghuang provides an interesting glimpse of the many challenges and contrasts that exist in China today.
